Maintaining Tradition Looks with Modern Sash Windows
We recently undertook a project in the market town of Alcester, Warwickshire, which is well known for its Medieval, Tudor, Georgian, Victorian and 20th century architecture. With our help, our customer was looking to make some improvements to their traditional Georgian style cottage, whilst keeping with the original look of the property. To maintain the period style of the cottage whilst providing improved insulation, we installed Georgian style sash windows.
UPVc Vs Wood
Rather than the traditional timber, which can be very expensive and high maintenance, we opted for high performance modern materials. We fitted UPVc sash windows in a grey finish to create the effect of timber window frames. In keeping with the period style of the cottage, we used modern materials to replicate the Georgian style window. Astragal bars provide the elegant appearance of Georgian window bars, dividing the window into numerous panes of glass. However, unlike Georgian window bars that are integral to the window, astragal bars are simply fitted to the inside and outside of glazing panels, allowing us to create the appearance of multiple panes on a single piece of double glazing in Solihull.
Whilst we maintained the look of our customer’s property by installing traditional style windows, although the method of window construction is the same, the materials and technology involved in our sash windows are completely modern. uPVC windows Birmingham are designed to:
- Keep heat in and cut out draughts
- Reduce noise levels by as much as 40 decibels, creating a quieter environment
East Clean Windows
By using modern materials and technology, we were able to find solutions to a number of common issues experienced with traditional timber windows. To make cleaning easier, our Georgian style sash windows feature a unique tilt facility, helping our customers to clean their sashes safely from the inside of their property. Whilst the weights and pulleys of timber sash windows can become stiff and need regular maintenance, our uPVC sash windows replace old technology with sophisticated spring and spiral balances, making opening and closing windows a simple task.
